finally, after a hiatus of 7 years, we made it back to baja california for a month long  camping trip. we left san francisco early february and came back on march 10th.

what a great adventure it was! we drove down in our gmc van, which we outfitted especially for this tour, loaded with our gear, 2 sea kayaks and 4 pounds of 'four barrel' coffee beans.

please do yourself a favour and don't fall for the sensationalism in the media about the drug war in mexico. it's as safe as for example in san diego. the areas affected by that conflict are definitely not on anybody's itinerary. just go to mexico, you will enjoy it.

we were planning to go mostly to remote areas, mainly on the sea of cortez side, which required to equip the van accordingly and also carry recovery gear just in case. on board we had always enough food and water for at least 10 days. also, maybe more important, enough books for a month.
